Rodarmer is currently searching for an experienced Software Developer to support NIH in the development and operation of a Data Management System. This direct employment opportunity is full-time in the metro Washington DC area.
 
Position Requirements

  • Strong background in C/C++, Java and Python development
  • Ability to script in sh/bash, perl, and be productive within a Unix/Linux environment
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and Stored Procedures
  • Good understanding of HTTP and implementation of Active Content
  • Knowledge of Data Modeling and manipulation
  • Database Design using Relational and NoSQL systems
  • Indexing Techniques and Technologies
  • Demonstrable understanding of Service-oriented Architecture concepts
  • Understanding of Agile development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment
  • BS or higher in Computer Science or related filed
  • 5+ years of professional experience

 
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Project Manager to determine project scope and schedules
  • Create an architecture for Data Management and Normalization
  • Provide support for large databases of DNA, RNA and protein sequences
  • Tools for access and maintenance of the system
  • Integration with existing LIMs (Laboratory Information Systems)
  • Employ problem-solving and multi-tasking skills to achieve project objectives within a team environment

 
Highly Desired

  • A team player who is open to learning/exploring new skills
  • Experience with Encryption and Key Management
  • Experience with Graphical Rendering
  • Experience with Parsers and Natural Language processing
  • Understanding of REST APIs
  • Experience with Spark or Hadoop
  • Background in Biotechnology
  • Prior NIH experience
